Why This Award Means So Much More
The Top Vendor Awards 2025 was a night to remember. The venue glowed with elegance, every detail carefully thought through, every corner radiating the love and effort of the team behind it. The air was electric with excitement, as so many incredibly talented vendors came together to celebrate not just their work,
but the heart they pour into their craft.
I had the privilege of being a finalist in the “Best Captured Moment” category — an honour in itself, especially when standing alongside photographers whose artistry and dedication I so deeply admire. To hear my name called as the winner felt surreal. My heart pounded, my breath caught, and for a moment, I stood there in disbelief. But as I held that trophy in my hands, I knew immediately: this award isn’t just about me. It’s about the story behind the image.
A Love Story Written in God’s Timing
In March 2025, I had the joy of photographing the wedding of Niel and Eloïse. At first glance, it was a wedding like many others—beautiful vows, joyful tears, children laughing, and a dance floor alive with celebration. But to truly understand the weight of that day, you have to know the story that brought them there.
A few years earlier, Niel faced a loss that no one should ever have to endure. His wife, Anica, lost her battle with cancer, leaving behind not only a grieving husband, but also two little boys who needed their father to be both mom and dad. Their family’s story became one of resilience, of holding on to faith even in the darkest nights.
And then came Eloïse.
She didn’t just step into Niel’s life—she stepped into the boys’ lives, too. With patience, with grace, and with a love so radiant that it seemed to pour into every corner of their world. What struck me most, standing behind my camera, was how naturally the boys embraced her. There was no hesitation, no wall—just open arms and hearts ready to love. And the way Niel looked at her? It was the look of a man who had seen heartbreak and was now witnessing the beauty of restoration. Pride. Gratitude. Love that went deeper than words.
More Than a Photograph
The image that won this award wasn’t staged. It wasn’t posed. It was a fleeting moment that held within it the fullness of their story: loss and love, grief and healing, despair transformed into hope.
That’s what makes photography powerful. Sometimes, a single frame can carry a lifetime of meaning. This particular image is more than just a picture—it’s a testament to God’s promises fulfilled. A reminder that His timing, though often mysterious, is always perfect. That even in seasons of unimaginable pain,
light will break through again.
Why This Award Matters
So yes, winning this award left me honoured and grateful. But more than anything, it reminded me why I do what I do. Behind every wedding, behind every celebration, there are stories that deserve to be remembered.
Stories that carry weight. Stories that remind us of the strength of the human spirit, of love’s power to heal,
and of God’s faithfulness through it all.
For me, this award isn’t just a trophy on a shelf. It’s a symbol of hope. Of timing. Of promises kept.
And most of all—it’s a reminder of the privilege I have, to capture not just images, but legacies.
